Naatti! – joy, rest and benefits from the city garden
Upcoming events:
Thursday 24.9., 17.00-18.00 autumn chores in Konsti's yard. In case of rain, the workshops will be cancelled.
Naatti! -development project aims to diversify the functions and biodiversity of the yard of the Varkaus Museum Center Konsti, as well as increase the well-being of its restorers, ecological and climate awareness and participation through community means. Through workshops, i.e. guided activities, the use of the garden area and nature become everyday life among city residents.
The project has received funding from European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) through Mansikka ry. The EU's share of the funding is €31 701,78
The goals and starting points of the Naatti! development project:
Strengthening community and participation, especially with special groups in mind
A garden as a place for shared learning, experiences and activities, where people of different ages and backgrounds participate in the planning, care and use of the garden.
Increasing nature positivity, internalizing ecological values and climate actions
The goal is to create a beautiful and attractive urban environment that supports the well-being of residents.
Historical dimension, such as reviving Ahlström's legacy and garden history through old perennial plants, social history and traditional uses of the garden.
Key project results and impacts:
More diverse biodiversity - new plant species and pollinator habitats in the Konsti yard.
Ecological sustainability: impact on the carbon footprint.
More aesthetic landscape and comfort: creating the museum yard an attractive environment.
Strengthening community through people's participation (voluntary work, events).
Learning opportunities: workshops, education about biodiversity.
Well-being: increased outdoor activities, reduced stress.
Economic impacts -> increased attractiveness -> more visitors to the museum or the area.
Cultural impacts: nurturing and strengthening the cultural heritage of the area.
