Programme to promote walking and cycling
The Central Savo walking and cycling promotion programme has been completed. The work has made use of an extensive survey of local residents conducted in 2021, a survey of schools and kindergartens conducted during the work, and interviews with local experts and stakeholders conducted through two workshops. The work has been guided by national, regional and local strategies, such as the National Cycling and Walking Promotion Programme, the National Road Safety Strategy, the Transport Strategy for Eastern Finland, the Central Savo Transport System Roadmap and the Central Savo Road Safety Plan. The work has also drawn on the Cycling Planning Guide and the Pedestrian Planning Guide of the Finnish Transport Agency.
The work has resulted in municipal target networks for walking and cycling, communication and maintenance quality, and lists of measures to improve the common and municipal conditions for walking and cycling in the region.
The Technical Committee approved the Central Savo Walking and Cycling Promotion Programme on 13.12.2022 § 177.
