Kiertotie 9 status plan
The zoning plan amendment concerns blocks 300 and 301 (part) of the 5th district, the railway area inside the industrial zone and the adjacent protection areas. The area is located about 3 km from the centre of Varkaus in the industrial area south of the Kiertotie. The planning area is bordered by the industrial area, the railway line and the street called Kiertotie. The site covers an area of approximately 1,763 ha.
Objectives of the land-use plan
The zoning plan amendment extends the area of industrial plots in the planning area in order to improve business conditions. The railway line area (LRT) within the industrial area will be converted into an extension area for industrial premises and warehouses (T) and a protection zone (EV). Between blocks 300 and 301, a protection zone will remain, where a reserve for technical service pipelines will be allocated.
Participation and assessment plan
The participation and assessment plan (OAS) (§ 63 of the Land Use and Building Act) was made available for consultation from 13 October 2023 and updated on 11 November 2024.
Draft zoning plan
The draft zoning plan was open to public from 14 November to 16 December 2024 (§ 30 of the Land Use and Building Act).

The draft land-use plan is open to the public from 6 February to 10 March 2025 (§ 27 of the Land Use and Building Decree).
The draft zoning plan can be viewed in the Technical Department's showroom (Ahlströminkatu 6, 4th floor) during the opening hours of the Town Hall (weekdays 9-15) or on the Internet at www.varkaus.fi/kaavoituskatsaus. Please arrange any meetings in advance.
