Town plan for the area around Halonen Square

The zoning plan amendment concerns block 6 (part) of district 2 and part of the street areas of Kauppakatu and Laivalinnankatu. The area is located in the central area of Varkaus. The size of the area covered by the zoning change is approximately 1.7 ha.

Objectives of the zoning plan

The zoning of the area is initiated by the city itself, with the aim of developing the zoning of the planning area to reflect the actual uses of the area and developing the Halonen Square area to improve its amenity.

Opening of the procedure and participation and assessment plan

The stages of the planning project and the opportunities for participation in the preparation of the plan are set out in the participation and assessment plan (OAS) (§ 63 of the Land Use and Building Act). The participation and assessment plan will be open to the public from 1 June 2023. You can view the plan online at www.varkaus.fi/kaavoituskatsaus or in the showroom of the Technical Department (Ahlströminkatu 6, 4th floor) during the opening hours of the Town Hall (weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Please arrange any meetings in advance.
