Kangaslampi and villages
Kangaslampi has 1200 inhabitants and is a green, rural area in the lap of an industrial town and Lake Saimaa.
Kangaslampi has the only village school in Varkaus and Kangaslampi is the only church village in the city.
It has a shopping centre, a school and a sports hall, as well as a service centre for the elderly and a health centre.
Varkaus parish has a church and a parish hall in Kangaslampi.
Kirkonkylmi also has a pharmacy and a grocery store.
The Kangaslampi area includes the nearby village of Harjuranta and the village of Viljolahti, as well as other smaller villages.
Kangaslampi is connected to Etelä-Savo by the Tappuvirta castle.
Kangaslammi's attractions include the Manttu building of cultural and historical value, the Peis nature trail, the Härkämäki observatory and village houses in Harjuranta and Viljolahti.
The area's residents are active and there are several active village associations and other organisations in Kangaslamm.
