Building Regulations
The building regulations are a statutory document specific to each local authority. Its aim is to promote systematic construction appropriate to the area, to take cultural and natural values into account, and to ensure the creation and preservation of a good living environment.
The building regulations complement other statutory land-use planning. Consequently, they do not apply if a legally binding master plan, local plan or the Finnish Building Regulations stipulate otherwise.
The building regulations set out municipality-specific regulations and guidelines concerning construction and the management of the built environment. Different regulations and guidelines may be issued for different areas within a municipality. The starting point is local circumstances.
