Youth
The Youth House is a service place for young people, which also functions as a youth facility, a centre for leisure activities and a service unit for welfare services. The aim is to create a comprehensive, low-threshold service concept for young people.
There are three main objectives for the Youth House service concept, which aim to meet different needs. The Youth House includes low-threshold support services such as the Ohjaamo. The Youth House houses the activities of Varkaus Youth Services, which provide long-term and intensive support for young people in different life situations. The activities of the Youth House also create well-being for young people through multidisciplinary cooperation.
The Youth House is a place where young people can access the services they need to promote their well-being, employment and education. The House is also a meeting place where young people can spend their free time and meet each other, for example in the youth room and in small groups. It is also a place for young people to engage in leisure activities, providing low-threshold leisure activities for young people and increasing their own activity, inclusion and peer-to-peer interaction with young people and those around them.
The Youth House has two main actors, Varkaus Youth Services and Soisalo Opera. In addition, the House runs a number of different projects.
The Youth House youth room
The Youth House is a place for young people to spend time together, play together and realise their own ideas in a safe environment. The aim of the Youth House is to support and empower young people's leisure activities and to provide them with their own, equal meeting place. The Youth House is an alcohol and energy drink free area.
The Youth House is a youth centre located near the Waltter school, which is mainly for young people in the 7th grade or aged 13 and over. The upper age limit is 17 years.
You can come here to hang out, play games or chat with friends and mentors.

Youth outreach
There are times in life when you need support and help. You don't have to be alone! Outreach work goes hand in hand.
Outreach work is specific youth work that aims to be present among young people and provide an opportunity for safe and confidential contact with adults. It works with young people to find answers to their questions and help them to access the services they need.
The primary role of outreach work is to help young people under the age of 29 who are not in education or employment, or who need support to access the services they need. Youth work provides early support to young people if they want it.
Varkaus Youth Services has received a project grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture to employ two youth outreach workers.
