Varkaus museokeskus Konsti

The new museum for the people of Varkaus is a project that includes the concept, content and facilities of the new museum. The funding of the project is also made up of several different components.

The main funder of the content is the Finnish Cultural Foundation, which provided €200,000 for the New Museum of Varkaus project. The aim of the project was to produce new, experiential ways of approaching and using cultural heritage alongside content design. The project will provide a free space for the city's citizens to spend time in, and will enable the development of urban culture, museum activities, museum content and heritage on the community's own terms. This responds to the public's desire for accessible, informal museum activities

Do you want to be involved in valuable work on your history, cultural heritage and cultural life in Varkaus, with a relaxed approach and in good company?

Varkauden Museonystävät ry is an association founded in 2015 with the motto: Fun and useful!

The Association of Friends of the Museum of Karkaus offers its members the opportunity to:

- be involved in developing cultural life in Varkaus and increasing the appreciation and knowledge of cultural heritage in Varkaus

- get a peek into the preparation of exhibitions and work with museum staff on issues that interest you (i.e. volunteer work on museum collection management and events)

- get to know the activities and excursions of museum friends from other localities

- participate in association evenings, outings and events on heritage, art, history and the cultural environment.

As a Friend of the Varkaus Museum, you will receive a personal invitation to the opening of exhibitions and invitations to guest events at the Varkaus Museum Centre Kosti, as well as a discount on products from the Museum Centre Kosti's own museum shop.
